ALONG THE WAY

Somewhere along the way, somebody’s Mama's cookin’

Somebody’s Daddy is a slave so I can’t complain

Just keep on truckin with my head held high, and my heart on fire

For all the Love we’ve yet to share

Along the way

Somehow the feelings changed, you let me down but

I’m back again, so I can’t forget

Just keep on tryin’ to live without and no regret

For all times we’ve left behind

Along the way

In time I’ll think of you and how I begged you not to go

Oh you know it’s hard, just keep on truckin’

With my head held high and my heart on fire

For all the Love we’ve left behind

Along the way

AWFUL TALL

They didn’t speak a word all summer long, the kids are growin’ awful tall

‘Cause Mommy’s got a job and Daddy’s gone, ain’t no way to live at all

I sat back and watched it goin’ down, Beauty and The Beast

And I am the other woman, the time apart

Just a happy distraction, but I am not...yours

Call it what you will, base it on a book full of lies and deceit

So the story goes, just leave me alone ‘cause I haven't slept a wink in weeks

An I thought of anything that I could do to make it seem alright

But I am the other woman, the time apart

Just a happy distraction, yes I was

The other woman, the time apart

Just a happy distraction and I am not yours

I am not yours

CLEAN WATER

It’s supposed, supposed to get better

When you listen, listen to the news the people keep dying

The temperature’s a risin’

Goin’ to the country, runnin’ for the hills lookin’ for clean water

Goodbye to my folks, skip these bills lookin’ for clean water

This way the time goes by, the days only get shorter

When you’re drivin’, you’re drivin’ to work you’re workin’ to drive

Yeah you’re livin’ to die

Give me that sunset without anger, let me drink clean water

All this talk, talk and no walk I gotta find clean water

Well the rain, thunder and lightning are coming to save us

So I ain’t scared, I’m just afraid of the dark now but it’s gonna get brighter

And we’re gonna find water

Goin’ to the country, runnin’ for the hills lookin’ for clean water

Goodbye to my folks, skip these bills lookin’ for clean water

Oh now all this talk, talk and no walk I gotta find clean water

Lookin’for clean water

HARDWOOD FLOORS

Leave the light on when you come home

Start a fire and let it burn

Up all night until the day

No , I don’t care what the neighbours say

So come on down with a smile on your face

We’ll slide around in our socks on the hardwood floors

Leave the light on when you come home

Start a fire and let it burn

Up all night until the day

No , I don’t care what the neighbours say

So come on down with a smile on your face

We’ll slide around in our socks on the hardwood floors

And heaven knows what we’ve done well there’s hell to pay

So come on down with a smile on your face

We’ll slide around in our socks, heyyyyy!!

And heaven knows what we’ve done well there’s hell to pay

So come on down, we’ll slide around on the hardwood floor

IRON CITY

What I would do to be your bride, I’m comin’ down to the valley from the mountains high

Two drunk days to pass your house, I won’t look you’ve got a someone else

When your lonely arms have had too much, you want that woman ‘cause you need my touch

I'm comin’ down to the valley from the mountain high

‘Cause that’s what I’d do to be your bride

He says ‘Let me have you one more time, you can curse my name in the morning light”.

The heart beats and the hands will hold memories of the times been so

So we play the game, we roll that dice, push them stones onto paradise

So just let me have you one more time and you can curse my name in the morning light

As I ride away

Now in the stories that your Daddy told from long ago and the days gone cold

Even so the snow will melt, spring will come to us everyone

When the trees begin to show themselves pushing through just the way they fell

I’m comin’ down to the valley from the mountains high ‘cause that’s what I’d do to be your bride

I’m comin’ down to the valley from the mountains high

As I ride away, ride away…

NUMBER & SHOES
I’m comin’ downtown for you, you left your number and shoes

The sun is up but I’m so down when you’re not around

They say I’m livin’ the life playin’ on weekends in shitty dives

But I’m loading up while drunks are going home and I feel so alone

Yeahhhhhh(x4)

You’re comin’ uptown for me, I lost your number and see

The sun is down, it’s all over now and I feel so at home

The sun is down, it’s all over now and I feel so at home

ONE MORE NIGHT

Watchin’ the waves roll in on the side of the St Lawrence River, a Saturday afternoon

Thinkin’ about my lover, watching it all fall apart for just one more night with you

It had a been any other I’d a let you down, I’d have turned away

I’d have changed my mind and not let you stay

But there’s something about that water washing away the cares I had

For just one more night with you

For just one more night, for just one more night with you(x2)

It had a been any other I’d a let you down, I’d have turned away

I’d have changed my mind and not let you stay

But there’s something about that water washing away the cares I had

For just one more night with you

Well now I’m still here buying time, yes now I’m still here, days go byyyyy

Watchin’ the waves roll in on the side of the St Lawrence River, a Saturday afternoon

Thinkin’ about my lover, watching it all fall apart for just one more night with you

For just one more night, for just one more night with you(x4)

THE SPARK

When they’re throwing sand on my face or I’m goin’ up in flames

I hope they say “She lived her days with faith and love in her heart”

When the Devil claims my body I hope that Jesus has a say

‘Cause I’ve walked alone and it don’t hurt no more, not like it did before I found this old road

With the lonesome peaceful valleys, mountain tops to climb

Prairie winds to guide us and stars that blow your mind it’s so easy to be thankful

When you’re barely getting by, a thousand wonders feed the spark in your eye

And all the rivers in those valleys and the snow up on those peaks

Are disappearing acts if all we do is speak so let’s put our hands together if only for a while

Feel heaven in the water and freedom in the sky it’s so easy to be thankful

When you’re barely getting by, a thousand wonders feed the spark in your eye

Let Mother nature feed the spark in your eye

THINKIN’ ON YOU

It ain’t these hot days, the sun beating down that gets my thoughts just spinnin’

Around and around, it ain’t the whiskey lord knows it ain’t the beer

I’ve been thinkin’ on you my dear, thinkin’ on you my dear

I’ve been thinkin’ on you my dear, and these thoughts won’t leave me alone

Weren’t for your eyes child shinin’ so bright I’d have my way with any woman of the night

It ain’t no secret and I can’t lie

I’ve been thinkin’ on you my dear, thinkin’ on you my dear

I’ve been thinkin’ on you my dear, and these thoughts won’t leave me alone

Headlights are pullin’ in the drive, and a see-saw swingin’ in my mind

Are you gonna stay or are you just droppin’ by

I’ve been thinkin’ on you my dear, thinkin’ on you my dear

I’ve been thinkin’ on you my dear, oh yeahhh

Headlights are pullin’ in the drive, and a see-saw swingin’ in my mind

I’ve been thinkin’ on you my dear, thinkin’ on you my dear

I’ve been thinkin’ on you my dear

Thinkin’ on you my dear, thinkin’ on you my dear

I’ve been thinkin’ on you my dear, and these thoughts won’t leave me alone

DAD’S TIME

All these nuts and bolts, and rusted out engines

A hammer and a saw by the bedside in a box

He’s out there droppin’ trees, putting fence posts in the ground

Cuttin’ wood on a Sunday

“Well the car won’t fix itself..” he says to me in vain

I don’t know what I’ll do when he rides that long black train

I guess I better learn to take it day by day

Fixin’ cars on a Monday

Tuesday has it’s set of problems, Wednesday morning is the Doc

And all this time that I’ve been wasting...time ticking on the clock

So we get up with the birds and drink a pot of coffee

We talk about the news and watch the Morning Show

A little piece of heaven where surely he will go

After making plans some Thursday

Friday night he’ll go out fishin’, Saturday...take a walk

It rolls back around until it’s Sunday...time ticking on the clock
